Coinbase has announced annual rewards for holding USDC in Coinbase accounts will drop to just 0.15% starting June 3. The yield has been 1.25% since Coinbase launched USDC rewards in October 2019. USDC is the second largest stablecoin by total supply after Tether. Rewards for holding USDC on Coinbase are now significantly reduced.

USD Coin (USDC) is a stablecoin developed by the Centre Consortium, a collaboration between Coinbase and Circle Internet Financial (Circle). Circle is the issuer of USDC. All issuers use a reserve bank account to hold US Dollars that back USDC in circulation. Coinbase’s pitch is simple: Whenever you’re converting your crypto assets and you end up with USD, just leave them on the platform as USDC.
